Vårt uppdrag
FishBase är världens största uppslagsverk om fisk, fritt tillgänglig på nätet. FishBase grundades 1988, och har som mål att:
- sprida publicerad information om fisk
- att erbjuda långtidslagring av information om fisk
- att vara en plattform för information och utbildning om fisk och fiske
- samt att vara ett gratis och lätt-tillgängligt informations och analysverktyg, med särskild inriktning på användare i utvecklingsländer
FishBase är ett konsortium med 13 medlemsorganisationer, i Sverige är Naturhistoriska riksmuseet medlem. FishBase huvudkontor är i Los Baños, Filippinerna.
